WITKOWSKI, Adele J. 85 of Bergenfield. Diagnosed a year ago with pancreatic cancer, Adele continued to live a full and active life, enjoying her family, friends and all of her social activities. A lesson well learned by her family, who surrounded her with love and song at her passing on January 23, 2013. Before retiring she was a guidance counselor for the NYC Public School System. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Bergenfield where she was a Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters, New Beginnings and had founded the Rainbows Program. She was a member of the Bergenfield VFW, Ladies Auxiliary and the Tenafly Senior Center where she was involved in knitting and crocheting and the Puppet Making Committee for Hackensack University Medical Center. She also taught ESL at the Tenafly Senior Center. Beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Devoted mother of Jean Lanz and her husband Philip, Joseph, Jr. and Richard Witkowski and his wife Ann. Loving grandmother of Philip Lanz, Jr., Joseph, III, Sharon, Stephanie, Kristen and John Witkowski and the late Kathryn Anne Lanz. All will gather on Monday at 9am at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, for the funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist RC Church at 10. Interment St. Luke's Cemetery, Hohokus. Visiting Sunday 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Kathryn Anne Lanz Memorial Scholarship, PO Box 43, Tenafly, NJ 07670 would be appreciated.
