Arthur J. Jackowski, age 86, formerly of Bergenfield and Wallington, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday May 25, 2011. He was born in Passaic, NJ on September 15, 1924 son of Lillian Fiala and John Jackowski. Mr. Jackowski was a WWII decorated combat veteran who served on the front lines of the European Theater of Operations until he was wounded in action in Aachen, Germany. He was a distinguished educator, a graduate of Montclair State Teachers College and Teachers College Columbia University, and served in the Englewood and Wallington, NJ school systems. Mr. Jackowskiis survived by three loving daughters and their husbands. Kim A. Jackowski of Narrowsburg, NY, Jan F. and Perry Palmer of Dumont, NJ, Allison L. Sosinsky and Philip Sosinsky of Dumont, NJ and six grandchildren, Kane and Kurt Majka, Kara and Marisa Palmer, and Alanna and Jillian Sosinsky. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Allison Readdy Fildes of Franklin Lakes, NJ. A private funeral service will be held at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield, NJ followed by interment at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.
