Arthur E. Nolte

Arthur E. Nolte of Mishawka IN, formerly of Bergenfield NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 1st, 2013. Arthur was born in Jersey City in 1924 to Edward and Hannah Nolte. He served his country in WWII in the Army Air Corps achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Flying 35 combat missions as a tail gunner in a B-17 with the 8th Air Force in Europe, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross & Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. On March 5, 1998 he was awarded the State of New Jersey's top military award, the Distinguished Service Medal. A beloved husband for 62 years, Arthur married Margaret A. (nee Amelung) on October 1st, 1948. They moved to Bergenfield in 1950 living there until joining his son's family in Indiana in 2008. Arthur worked 34 years for the Long Island Railroad as the Manager of Real Estate and Insurance. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tenafly and a life-time member of the Masonic Lodge #72 Secaucus-Hudson. Favorite times included trips to the Jersey Shore and the Catskill Mountains with his dear Margaret and family. A devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Arthur is survived by his son Gary E. and Connie (nee Kirchmer) of Granger, IN formally of Bergenfield. Granddaughters, Tracy M.( Edward III) Krause of Fishers IN and Kristee (Greg) Emshwiller of Fort Wayne, IN. Great Grandfather to Jack E. and Charlotte Krause, and Kate Emshwiller. Arthur was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret A. in 2010. Arthur and Margaret are reunited in Heaven watching over us all. Visitation will be held on Friday January 4th at Riewerts Memorial Home 187 South Washington Ave. Bergenfield, NJ from 3 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday January 5th at 10 am. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park Paramus.
