Betty Hendrie (nee Vetter) 95 of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. Betty was born in Teaneck on August 10, 1928. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Marion Vetter and her sister Marion and brother Alfred. Beloved wife of the late Andrew Hendrie who passed in 1994. Devoted mother of Robert Hendrie and BethAnne Russo and her husband Joseph. Cherished grandmother of Natalie and her husband Lenny Pierro and Robert and his wife Donna Russo. Treasured great-grandmother of Brianna and her husband Lou, Alyssa, Nicole, Isabella, Carlee, Jake, and Dylan. Compatible companion for 20 years to Warren Adelung, who passed in 2023.
For her family, her love knew no bounds. She instilled in them strong cultural values and a diligent work ethic. Before retiring, Betty was a dedicated secretary, dental assistant, x-ray technician, and nurse.
Betty was a kind and sweet to everyone who knew her and had a zest for life. She had a great sense of humor. She loved playing her organ and playing bridge. She reached her goal by becoming a life master bridge player. She loved traveling to new destinations and most of all, she loved spending her time with family.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Mayflower Society, and Moose and Elks Clubs.
Betty will always be remembered as sunshine in our hearts. Her memory will continue to be a source of strength and inspiration for generations to come. In her life, she wore many hats. Now she is wearing the one most befitting of her…a halo! Though she may be gone, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and memories she created.
