Born in Passaic, he was the founder of Riewerts Memorial Home, Bergenfield, a graduate of the Renard School of Embalming he was a member and past president of the Bergen County Funeral Directors Assoc, a member and 1963 past President of the NJ State Funeral Directors Assoc., the former Civil Defense Disaster Control Director of Bergenfield, a founding director, former Chairman of the Board and former president of Bergen State Bank, Bergenfield, a longtime director of Fellowship Savings and Loan Assoc., Bergenfield, former director of Forked River Bank, a member and Elder of South Presbyterian Church, Bergenfield, member of William L. Daniels Lodge 269 F&AM, Bergenfield, Past President of the Bergenfield Chamber of Commerce, a founder of Cablevision, Past President of the Bergenfield-Dumont Rotary Club and a former member of Bergenfield Elks Lodge #1477 B.P.O.E. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Riewerts (nee Reed). Devoted father of Margaret Kaplen, Elizabeth Hilligas, Barbara Kwiesinski and Henry Riewerts. Dear brother of Elizabeth Nichols. Loving grandfather of James and Peter Tate, Juliana Riewerts, David and Debra Hilligas, Colin and Ian Barber, Lidia Imperiale and Leah Tribble and great grandfather of Nicolas and Isabelle Tate and Ella Barber. Funeral service at South Presbyterian Church, West Church St., Bergenfield on Saturday at 11:30AM. Interment Pennington Cemetery, Pennington, NJ. Arrangements are by Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield.
