Calvin Hart

Hart, Calvin, 78, on June 8, 2008 of Bergenfield. Calvin earned his B.A. from New York University and M.S. from Yeshiva University. He was an educator for 31 years and principal of CIS 147 Diana Sands School, Bronx, NY. Calvin was a Navy veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church, Englewood, Director of the Black Clergy Council of NJ, Trustee and President of the Bergenfield Board of Education, appointed by Governors Hughes and Byrne to the Education Commission of the States, a member of the Bergen County Child Placement Review Board and was cofounder of the Old South Church Coffee House. Beloved husband of Gloria B. Hart (née: Matthews). Devoted father of Jon and Eric Hart. Loving brother of Marjorie Carter, Violet Fitch and the late Ruth Naomi Roach, John T., William S. and Arnold N. Hart. He is also survived by four cherished grandchildren, Jonathan, Geoffrey, Amia and Desmond. Funeral service at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Friday at 10AM. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. The family will receive friends on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the Chapel of the Four Children Scholarship Fund at the First Baptist Church, 351 Englewood Ave., Englewood, NJ 07631. There will be refreshments at the church after interment.
