Carole Lee Morrison

December 25, 1934 — August 24, 2024

Carole Lee Morrison (nee Seagrave) passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born in Keene, NH to Harold Augustus and Mabel Gregory Seagrave on December 25, 1934. She grew up in Dumont, NJ where at an early age she became an avid supporter of family sports endeavors, cheering on her loving brother DeMont. She joined the international Order of Rainbow for Girls, and through her Masonic participation she met Jack Morrison, a member of the Order of DeMolay. Jack and Carole were married in 1954 and enjoyed a joyous and loving marriage for 49 years. Carole earned an Associate degree in Nursing from FDU and worked as an RN at Englewood Hospital as a staff nurse, head nurse and private duty nurse with Englewood Hospital Registry. She also served as office manager and consultant for several private physician practices and physical therapy practices.

Carole was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, first in the Tilden Chapter in Dumont and most recently in Tenafly. She served as Worthy Matron, District Deputy, and Grand Representative. She enjoyed her Eastern Star participation, community involvement, and the many friendships she formed, including a cherished lifelong friendship with Joan Davis, her best friend for more than 80 years. Other community service included Girl Scout and Brownie Leader, PTA member, class parent for her children and Consistory member at the Clinton Avenue Reformed Church in Bergenfield.

Carole was the beloved wife of the late John A. (“Jack”) Morrison, PhD. She was the loving mother of John Bradley Morrison, PhD and his wife Sally, Barbara Lee Grygotis and her husband Dr. Anthony Edward, and Betty Lynn Boyd and her husband David Heath. She was the cherished grandmother of Lauren, Kristen, Joseph, Christopher, Timothy, Brian, and Sean. Her love for her family was evident in all that she did. She was a constant and devoted presence for all seven of her grandchildren, following their every move and boasting about their numerous exploits and accomplishments. She was the Number 1 fan for each of her grandchildren for all their sporting activities throughout their childhood, high school and college years, following all their schedules (swimming, volleyball, dance competitions, soccer, football, baseball, basketball and track), clipping the newspaper writeups, and enthusiastically supporting their teams and all their friends as if they were her own grandchildren. Even in her later years with limited mobility, she managed to find her way to the sidelines to watch, cheer, and encourage.

Funeral services will be held at Clinton Avenue Reformed Church, 58 James St, Bergenfield, NJ 07621, on Saturday September 28th at 10:30 a.m. An Eastern Star Service will be included. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, in the spirit of Carole’s unselfish caring for others, family requests that donations be made to Englewood Health Foundation www.englewoodhealthfoundation.org/ in memory of Carole Lee Morrison. Please designate that donations are made to the Nursing Programs.
