Charles E. O'Connor, 79, of Bergenfield, died suddenly, on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Born and raised in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx, NY. Charlie was the fourth child of Frank R. and Eleanor O'Connor. Charlie was an Air Force Veteran during the Korean War and worked as a metal lather for Metal Lathers Local 46 in NYC for over 30 years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. John's Council #1345 Knights of Columbus in Dumont. He resided in Bergenfield for over 40 years with his loving wife of 46 years, Laura (nee Vicere). Beloved father of three, Ellen Lockhart and her husband Glenn, Elizabeth Campbell and her husband Dave and John O'Connor and his wife Tara. Adored Pop-Pop of Joseph Lockhart, Carley and Dillon Campbell and Connor and Brian Paul. Predeceased by brothers Frank, Richard, and John. Also predeceased by two brothers-in-law Barton Chase and Charlie Arolla, and sister-in-law Marge Chouinard. Survived by his sisters Ellie Chase of RI, and Patricia Langdon and husband Dave of FL. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary O'Connor of NJ, and Maureen O'Connor of FL., brother-in-law Ray Couinard and many nieces, nephews, family, and dear friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl Memphis, TN 38105. Visiting on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield. All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8:30 AM for the Funeral Mass at Church of the Ascension in New Milford at 9:30 AM. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly.
