Conrad M. "Connie" Nelson

NELSON, Conrad "Connie" M. born April 2, 1926 died July 22, 2013 and resided in Bergenfield. Devoted to his wife Grace for 64 years and his children Janet, Connie Jr. and his wife Dayle and Gayle and her husband Ted. Grandchildren Deirdre and Brent, Morgan and Kyle. Great grandchildren Brooke and Peter. Connie was a Navy veteran of WWII and served in the Pacific. He played semi pro baseball for a time for the Philadelphia A's. After that, he joined IBM where he worked for forty years until retiring in 1988. Connie will be especially remembered for his love of baseball, coaching Bergenfield teams for many years and as a coach for Bergenfield High School varsity till nearly 80 years old. He served on many committees and was a charter member of Bergenfield Recreation. Everyone was just "Babe" to him, a favorite expression for his many friends young and old. If you think of him now and again say a little prayer. He deserves them for the special man he was. Visiting at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Saturday 1-5 PM. Funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday at 4:30 PM. Cremation will be private.
