In Loving Memory of Dennis Eugene Layne

 

Dennis Eugene Layne, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished member of our family, passed away on November 15, 2023. Born on October 11, 1944, to Clifford and Loretta Layne, Dennis grew up in Bergenfield, leaving an irreplaceable mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

A devoted brother to Jeffrey wife Paula, and William Layne wife Nancy, Dennis was an eternal optimist and always had something positive to say. He is survived by his four children, Michele Verost and John, Dennis and his wife Claudine, Denise Torres and her husband Rich, and Rick Layne and his wife Sabby. Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love, extending to his grandchildren Richie and his fiancé Amanda, Samantha and her fiancé Matt, Robert, Dennis, and Nicholas. Uncle to Ron, Andy, Krisie, Trish, Melissa, Danny, James, Jessica, Bret, and many great nieces and nephews. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Richard Joseph Torres Jr.

 

Dennis spent 30 dedicated years as an employee in the Engineering Department of Englewood Hospital, touching countless lives with his kindness and compassion. Known by many names – Popa, Mr. Layne, Grey Ice, Fast Denny, GGP and Blue Eyes – he had a smile for everyone he encountered, spreading joy wherever he went.

 

A resident of Englewood and later retired in Arizona, Dennis had a passion for sports, dogs and cars. However, nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. His love and laughter created a history of cherished memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.

 

Dennis Eugene Layne, with his charismatic nature and zest for life, will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. As we remember and celebrate his life, let us hold onto the love and joy he shared with us. May he rest in eternal peace.
