Doris Grace Adams

Adams, Doris Grace (nee:Pekarek), 85, of Gardner, MA formerly of Bergenfield, NJ, Monmouth Beach, NJ and East Glenville, NY passed away Wednesday morning September 28, 2005 at Heywood Hospital following an illness. Born in Hackensack, NJ on February 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Barbara (nee:Prell) Pekarek. Doris was raised in Bergenfield, NJ and was a graduate of Tenafly High School. During World War II, she worked in New York City at New York Life Insurance Company. She met her husband Larry, at a U.S.O. dance at Ft. Jay on Governor's Island. After the war Doris and Larry moved to Oklahoma to attend college on the GI Bill. During their many years together, Doris was always active in church, teaching Sunday school and leading neighborhood Bible studies. Doris moved to Gardner, MA in 2000 to be near family. She will be greatly missed. Members of her family include; her loving husband of 62 years, Lawrence Adams of Gardner, a son Lawrence A. Adams of Edgewater, FL, a daughter, Susan Meiners of Gardner, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a sister, Betty Williams of Dallas, TX and seven nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday September 30 at 11:00 AM at the Bethany Baptist Church, Gardner, MA. Funeral service at Riewerts Memorial Home Inc., 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ on Saturday October 1 at 9:30 AM. Interment Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ. The family will receive friends on Saturday 9:00-9:30 AM.
