Our Beloved Mother, Dorothy Alperez entered into God’s Kingdom on December 22, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Dorothy was born to Edward Azachee and Juliana Napoles on October 22, 1938 in Lapu-Lapu City (Mactan), Cebu, Philippines. She graduated from Southwestern University of Cebu City with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked in Western Leyte Hospital in Baybay City, Leyte for a few years. While still in Baybay City, she was active in the Immaculate Conception Parish as a choir member and was also involved in several other parish activities. Through her active parish activities, she developed an ambition to become a “Cloistered Nun”. Subsequently she decided to pursue a career in nursing instead. She then decided to migrate from the Philippines to Holland and work for a few years. Later on, she moved to Newark, NJ, worked in Beth Israel Hospital and in 1967 met Al (Marcelino), a match truly made in heaven. Dorothy & Al were married in 1969 and lived together on Governor's Island, NY where Al served in the US Coast Guard for many years. Eventually they moved to Dumont, NJ and went on to have two children, Heidi and Darryl. Dorothy worked at Beekman-Downtown Hospital, New York then transferred to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where she worked for the majority of her years in Radiation Oncology. She eventually retired and moved to Goodyear, Arizona.
Dorothy was a loyal servant of God, first and foremost. She loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish of Dumont, NJ and was a member of the choir and P.A.L.A.D. group. She was also a Eucharistic minister and an avid member of the Barangay Sang Birhen, of which the picture of our Blessed Mother was brought to individual homes every week.
Dorothy joins her loving husband Al, her beloved parents Edward and Juliana, her brother Anatolio (Dodong) and sister-in law Minda in Heaven. She is survived by many loving family members, including daughter Heidi, son Darryl & Krissi with grandson Edward and sister Grace (Connie).
She will truly be missed...
