Elizabeth Reed Riewerts of Bergenfield, died Saturday, March 12, 2016. She was 97 years old. Mrs. Riewerts is survived by her beloved family—Margaret Kaplen, Henry Riewerts and his wife Diane, Elizabeth Hillegas, Barbara Kwiecinski and her husband Henry. Also surviving are her grandchildren— Peter Tate, James Tate, Juliana Berliet, Leah Riewerts, David Hillegas, Deborah Hillegas, Colin Barber, Lydia Imperiale, and Ian Barber. She has 12 great grandchildren. Mrs. Riewerts was predeceased by her husband Brar V. Riewerts and her parents Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Reed. She was raised in Pennington, NJ and was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. She has been a resident of Bergenfield since 1945. She was active in the Contemporary Women's Club and was a member of the South Presbyterian Church. The family suggests donations to the South Presbyterian Church, 150 W. Church Street, Bergenfield, NJ 07621 or to the ASPCA, 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ 07608 instead of flowers. Visiting hours at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ are Thursday, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with a funeral service by the Rev. Mark Burnham concluding the visiting hours. Burial will be private.
