Francis M. Cross

Francis Milton Cross age 82, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, PA. Born on September 13, 1930, in Hackensack, NJ, he lived in Bergenfield and New Milford for most of his life. Predeceased by his wife of 30+ years, Agnes, he is survived by his children; his son - Valmer Oscar of New Milford, and daughters - Joy Ann Sherman and Neil Chandler of Pompano Beach, FL and Jane Beth Pulver and her fiancé, James Wagner, of New Milford, NJ, and his adoring granddaughter, Maggie Pulver of Honolulu, HI. She was the apple of his eye and he was a most proud PopPop. He attended the New Jersey School for the Deaf and played football, basketball and baseball. He retired from Amol Precision, Inc., where he was a tool and die press foreman for 40 years. He was an avid bowler, having bowled a 298, of which he was so proud. He was a founding member of the Jerseyites Bowling League, and a former member of the United States Bowling Congress and New England States Deaf Bowlers Association. He was bowling until May of 2010 thanks to one of his lifelong friends, Bill Fisher. He also loved riding his motorcycle, driving his Firebird and Atlantic City. He was a member of the North Jersey Silent Club, North Jersey Community Center for the Deaf, Inc.; and Northwest Bergen Senior Center. We will miss his smiles and his teasing and joking ways. Visiting at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Wednesday 4-7 PM. Funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Francis may be made to Valley View Assisted Living for the Deaf and Blind,, 111 Elwyn Road, Elwyn, PA and the Northwest Senior Center, 46 Center St., Midland Park, NJ.
