Shipp, Frank Peter passed away peacefully on October 18, 2013 in the Paramus Veteran's Home, where he had been a resident for the past six years. Mr. Shipp was born on December 16, 1926 and was a life-long resident of Bergenfield, NJ and an active parishioner of Saint Anthony's Eastern Orthodox Church. He also owned a second home and working farm in Canajoharie, NY for fourteen years. He was a United States Navy Veteran, having served in WW II as Seaman First Class. He also served in the Merchant Marines. Before retiring, Mr. Shipp owned and operated a landscaping business and a fire extinguisher company for over thirty years. Upon retirement, he continued to work as a school bus operator, servicing children with special needs. Frank was known for his outgoing personality and love for family, music and sports. After graduating from Bergenfield High School, he played semi-pro football for the Teaneck Red Devils. He then completed college courses in voice and piano at the Manhattan School of Music and sang solo at various resorts and clubs in Catskill, NY. He continued to sing regularly at family events, and became a popular source of entertainment for his fellow residents at the Paramus Veterans Home. He maintained a large circle of close friends throughout his life. Frank is predeceased by his brother George who passed in 2010. Frank will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Lillian; his four children: Jeannine Shipp DeMalteris, Michelle Shipp-Thacker, Frank Shipp and Georgette Shipp-Acree; his daughter in-law: Sharon Petricone; his grandchildren: David, Larissa, Ian, Miles, Frank, Alexander, Benjamin, Danny and Johnathan. A Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, October 25 at 10:00am at Saint Anthony's church 385 Ivy Ln., Bergenfield, NJ, followed by the burial at Hackensack cemetery. Visiting will be held on October 24 between 5:00pm - 9:00pm at Riewerts Memorial Home 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ.
