George F. Butler, Jr. (Buddy), 81, of Bergenfield, NJ formerly of West New York, NJ died on April 19, 2012. Beloved husband of Dolores (nee Andrea). Beloved father of Gregory P. Butler and his wife Wendy Pontrelli and James C. Butler and his wife Maria. Loving grandfather of Brittany and Matthew Butler. Dear uncle of Jay, Bill and Ruth Butler. Predeceased by his parents George and Mary Butler and brother John Butler. For over 35 yrs. he was a Teacher for the West New York Board of Education. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a former parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD Teacher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was the Supervisor of summer programs in arts and crafts for retarded children for the West New York Department of Recreation from 1957-71. For many years he was a Coach of Bergenfield P.A.L. Baseball and Bergenfield Town League Basketball. He was a volunteer at Englewood Hospital Children's Ward, the Center for Food Action, Englewood, was an ESL Teacher at the Bergenfield Public Library. He was a member of the Bergenfield Lions Club, the Disabled American Veterans and was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep in 1948. He graduated Seton Hall University with a B.A. in 1952 and M.A. in 1963. All will gather at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield on Tuesday at 9AM for the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield at 10AM. Entombment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hackensack. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of NJ or the NJ Veteran's Home, Paramus would be appreciated.
