Irene Chamberlin

Irene (Rena) Chamberlin, 80, of Bergenfield passed away peacefully Sunday, July 21, 2013, at her home. She was born April 24, 1933, in Syros, Greece, to Markos and Assimina Santorineou. She is preceded by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert (Bob) Chamberlin. She is survived by her daughter Mina Chamberlin-Tsaousis; son Mark Chamberlin (Mary); sister Helen Andeohou, sister-in-law Beverly Guilmette; grandchildren Fallon Berger (Arnold), Barbara Tsaousis and Seth, Aaron and Nick Raiford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene spent her early years in Syros and Athens, Greece. In 1957, Irene married Bob in her native Greece. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1970, Bob, Irene and their children, Mina and Mark, moved back to Greece, where Bob and Irene resided until 2011. Bob served as a civilian employee at Hellenikon Air Base, in Athens, Greece, for 20 years. Irene enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was an avid seamstress, cook, and loved to travel. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Woodcrest Nursing Home, as well as the Amedisys Hospice Team, for their thoughtful, loving care. Visitation will held at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S Washington Ave, Bergenfield, NJ on Thursday, July 25, between 6pm-8pm. A funeral will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
