Jacques Preaudat crossed over peacefully at home on October 4, 2024. Jacques was born on November 2, 1931 in Courtenay, France.
Beloved husband of over 68 years to Liliane (nee Penacier). They moved to the US in 1958 for what was supposed to be two years working as a foreman mechanic for Renault at Port Newark. Yet, remained in the US and proudly became US citizens several years after. They resided in Jersey City, NJ with their daughter Brigitte. Then in July 1966 they moved to their forever home in Bergenfield, NJ.
Jacques worked as a Top mechanic for several large dealerships and even designed several garages/car bays for dealerships. He enjoyed mentoring the neighborhood children who wanted to become mechanics. He always had the drive to keep learning. His creativity to solve problems, whether it was mechanical, electrical, or carpentry, was like no other.
Jacques, as well as his wife Liliane who he did not know at the time as young children, were survivors of the Nazi occupation in their home towns during WWII.
Jacques' "French" culture remained strong over the years. He enjoyed time with family and friends, be it over glasses of wine and/or delicious food made by Liliane.
Jacques is survived by his wife Liliane, daughter Brigitte, grandson William Hartmann III, great grandson Brandon Hartmann, granddaughter Michelle Hartmann, and great-granddaughter Aryanna Francis-Hartmann.
