James Patrick Dunn

Dunn, James Patrick of Bergenfield, NJ passed Tuesday March 8th at the age of 76.He was a lifelong resident of Bergenfield, NJ and was instrumentally involved in many town committees, clubs, and associations. James was a current member of Bergenfield Lions Club, Bergenfield Boro Recreation Committee, St. John's K of C Council(life member 1345), NJ State Fire Chiefs Association, Fireman Exempt Association. James was a former officer and member of Bergen County Schools Buildings and Grounds Association, NJ State Designated Persons Association, Bergenfield Fireman Ambulance Corp, Northern Valley Fireman Association, Mid-Bergen Fireman Mutual Aid, Inter-Boro Fireman Mutual Aid, NJ State Certified Facilities Manager, NJ State Certified Asbestos Investigator, NJ State Certified Management Planner. James served as Chief of the Bergenfield Fire Department 1968 and 1971 and was an honorary member and former officer holder of the Alert Fire Company. For over 20 years he had been a volunteer and member of the Father's Club, PAL, Little League, and Bergenfield Jr. Football. James was a regular at the Bergenfield Rec. where he bowled, cooked, and dined. He was also a regular at Dan's Deli and member of the Bergenfield "Breakfast Club". James was retired from over 20 years as the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds "Facilities Manager" for the Bergenfield Board of Education. He was also employed over 30 years for the Teamsters, Locals 560, 807, and 641 where he worked for the New York Central Transportation Co. James P. Dunn leaves his loving wife Barbara Brando Dunn and son James J Dunn, daughters Patti Dunn Scala and two grandsons Danny and Sean of Morristown, Kelly Dunn Kelly and husband Bill 'Willy" of Bridgewater Township, Maureen Dunn Nicoletti and husband Joe and grandchildren Christina and Joey of Pompton Lakes, four brothers John Dunn of Lakeside, CA, Joe Dunn and wife Harriet of Alpine, CA, Bob Dunn and wife Judy of Brandon, FL, sister Noreen Dunn Bruno and Sam of Los Cosa, CA, and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy will be remembered and loved by all of his friends and family for his panache and altruistic demeanor. Jimmy Dunn always did the right thing. All will gather at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield on Friday at 10am for the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield at 11am. Cremation will be private. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Bergenfield Lion's Club Scholarship fund PO Box 128, Bergenfield, NJ 07621.
