Joan M. Smith

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan M. Smith, 89, announces her passing. Joan resided in Forked River, NJ the past 29 years after residing in New Milford, NJ for 37 years and growing up in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Joan's passion was rooting for the NY Yankees and spending time  knitting/crocheting afghans, blankets, Christmas stockings and sweaters for families and friends. Devoted wife  of 65 years to the late William H. Smith Sr (2020). Beloved mother of William H. (Laura) Smith, Linda (Steven)  Lunau, Richard (Josephine) Smith, Janet (William) Stacy, Charles (Cath) Smith, Raymond Smith and the late Nancy Smith. Joan cherished her 12 grandchildren Shawn Smith, Steven (Loni) Lunau, Doug Lunau, Jessica Smith, Kimberly (James) Omerza, Connor (Katie) Smith, Danielle (Mark) Vitale, Nicole (Bryan Dalik) Stacy, Amanda Smith, Charles Smith, Maggie (Jeremy) Greene, Monica Smith and her 5 Great-Grandchildren Jack and George Greene, Gianna Vitale, Lennon Omerza and Noah Silva. Joan was the loving daughter of the late Anna and Richard  Eckstein and dear sister of the late Elaine Sutera. Joan was a long-time employee of both Western Union and Computax, Inc. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 27th from 10am- 12 noon at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave, Bergenfield, NJ. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc. (heart.org) or the  American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org)
