John A. DeVitis, 79 on December 11, 2009. Born in the Bronx, NY, he lived in Dumont for 55 years. John was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer USS Mullany (DD-528) from 1950 until 1954. He was a self-employed electrical contractor until his retirement in 1990. Beloved husband of the late Theresa M. (nee Eacovalle). Devoted father of Janet and her husband Richard Mottley, Steven J. DeVitis, and Lisa and her husband Christopher Lang. Loving Pop-Pop of Heather, Rebecca, Nicholas and Nina Lang, Jennifer and Anthony DeVitis and Tara and Ciara Mottley. Dear brother of Mary Remo and Clara DeVitis. Visiting hours on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday morning for final prayers at 10 AM. Cremation will be private.
