Joseph Campesi

Joseph Campesi, born Giuseppe Campesi in Spilinga, Calabria Italy passed away on Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025. Devoted husband of Donna Campesi. Beloved father of Caterina Sirena Campesi-Cohen, her husband Jared, Fortunato Joseph Campesi and his wife Marina. He was the dear brother to Rosa Martirano, Antonio Campesi, Michael Campesi and Antonia Pugliese. He is the Cherished grandfather of Jonah Gabirel Cohen, Giavanna Rose Cohen, Mia Campesi, Cara Campesi, Gianluca Campesi, Ava Campesi, and step grandfather to Theodore and Alexander Karounos. Joseph was an Alumni of Rutgers University where received his BA but more importantly was known for his outstanding soccer achievements, which were proudly engraved and displayed. An office supervisor for John Hancock Insurance for 20 years before transitioning to a career in Education as an Italian teacher at Emerson High School in Union City. A devout catholic Joseph was a lector at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Newark NJ and is a longtime parishioner of St. John The Evangelist RC Church in Bergenfield. Joseph never missed a mass attending every day, probably praying for the protection and safety of his family that he cherished dearly. He was not a man of many words, but you could always tell how much he cared with his quivering lip of emotion. He was our Guardian here on earth watching the Life 360 and wouldn’t rest unless he knew we were safe and sound and now he will forever be our Guardian Angel.

 Visiting hours will be held on Friday, 1/17 from 4-8 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. in Bergenfield. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday 1/18 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Newark. Entombment Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield NJ.
