Lilien C. Denning

Denning, Lilien, 88 of Bergenfield, NJ, October 7, 2006. A talented artist and musician, Lilien received numerous awards throughout her lifetime, beginning at age seven, when she received first prize in a children's New York City-wide art competition. Lilien began her business career as a bookkeeper and, after raising her family, worked at Scholastic Magazines until 1983. Since her retirement, she worked as an ESL teacher at the Bergenfield Public Library and was an active member of many library organizations including Friends of the Bergenfield Library. Her children feel blessed to have had such a compassionate, creative and talented mother. Lilien was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alvin, in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Christine, and a son, Marc; a brother, Robert; six nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Riewerts Memorial Home, Inc., 187 S. Washington Ave, Bergenfield, NJ on Tuesday, October 10 from 4-8 PM, with a remembrance of Lilien at 8 PM. The family requests donations be sent to Bergenfield Public Library.
