Margaret E. Schaefer

Margaret E. Schaefer, a 40 year resident of Teaneck, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013, after a brief illness. Margaret was 77 years of age. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Herman and Caroline Schaefer and spent her formative years in Toledo, Ohio. Margaret was a former member of the Sisters of Mercy, She was a registered nurse and graduate of Mercy College of Detroit and received her MSN from Boston University. Margaret spent her entire career in the health care field and for 30 years held various administrative posts at the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, New Jersey. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, John, Edward, and Robert Schaefer, and by her dearest friend, Judith Boyd. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Katherine "Dixie," Philip and Patricia, and Stephen and Lynn Schaefer. She was also well loved by her surviving sisters-in-law, Shirley and Pamela Schaefer and Calla Jean Adams. Margaret will be especially missed by her 19 surviving nieces and nephews; she joins three nephews who predeceased her. Family and friends will be received at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 South Washington Ave., Bergenfield, New Jersey, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a wake service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be said on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Anastasia, 1095 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck, New Jersey. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org) or a charity of the donors choice.
