Mary Elizabeth Field (nee Hansen) age, 83, died on Friday December 13, 2024. She grew up in Palmyra, New Jersey and moved north after marrying. She lived in Bergenfield, New Jersey for 58 years. She was born to Henry and Elizabeth Hansen. She graduated from Camden Catholic High School and attended Bergen Community College. Mary worked as a Switchboard Operator for Bell Telephone before starting her family. She returned to this vocation when her children were approaching college. She worked at both Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck and St Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. She cherished her years as a homemaker as her family was her top priority and she was involved in all aspects of her children and grandchildren’s lives. Mary enjoyed traveling with her family and saw most of the United States. Afraid of flying, she accomplished this through road trips across the country and Canada. A parishioner of St John the Evangelist Church in Bergenfield, she was a CCD teacher, and special needs teacher for many decades and a member of the Rosary Society. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Hansen, her husband of 49 years Eugene "Gene" Field, and her brother Harry Hansen (surviving spouse Peggy). Mary is survived by her brothers Hugh and his wife Barbara Hansen, and Michael and his wife Tricia Hansen. She is also survived by her four children, Mary Beth and husband Tim Holton, Reverend Eugene Field, Cristina Tregillies and Peter Field. She took great joy in her three granddaughters, Erin Tregillies, Lauren Holton and Alexis Field (spouse Jon Class). Mary’s life was driven by her beliefs in her faith and loyalty to her family. She suffered from Dementia in her later years but moments of her personality would shine through to humor her caretakers. Special thanks to Joan Hernandez and Shiela Silber for their unfailing support in her time of need. All may visit at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So.
