Nina Marlene Vogt
September 29, 1933 - April 6, 2020
Nina “Marlene” Vogt passed away after a short illness early Monday morning April 6, 2020. She was residing at Emerson Health & Rehab in Emerson, New Jersey. She was 87 years old. Marlene was born in Fulton New York, to Claire Kerr Brown and Laura Blakeslee Brown on September 29, 1933. She resided in Fulton most of her life. She attended Fulton High School and graduated in 1951. She started her career working at Fulton Savings Bank, and later as a secretary for the Dilt’s Company. Marlene married her high school sweetheart, John M. Vogt Jr. in 1952. They were married for 51 years. She was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fulton. She enjoyed reading and was known by many for her love of baking.
In 2005, Marlene moved to New Jersey to be close to two of her sons and families, and she spent winters in California, visiting her daughter and son and their families. She also loved traveling and visiting her friends. Marlene’s loving positive attitude, and sunny disposition drew everyone in. She never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone she met. Not long after moving to New Jersey she became part of a close network of girlfriends who did everything together. Family and friendship were Marlene’s priority. She will forever be remembered for always having a sweet smile, and for being the best wife to her husband, the most positive, loving mom to her 4 children, best grandma to her 9 grandchildren, & 2 great grandchildren, cherished friend, and Auntie Em to her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa (Jim) Forbes of Yorba Linda, CA.; her 3 sons: Kevin (Alicia) Vogt of Torrance, CA.; Eric (Kimberly) Vogt of Waldwick, NJ.; and
Craig (Sharon) Vogt of Westwood, NJ., 9 grandchildren: Jessica, Ryan, Jake, Maddie, Jonny, Hannah, Sarah, Lindsay, & Adam, 2 great grandchildren: Olivia, & Lucas, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Vogt, & siblings Jack Brown, Catherine Brown-Safford, & Anne Nichols.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton, NY
Due to Covid 19, the Mass & celebration of life service for Marlene will be at a later date. Family and friends will be notified when the date has been determined.
