Rita M. O'Gara

O' GARA, Rita M. 96, formerly of Fair Lawn, died peacefully at home in Bergenfield, NJ on February 27, 2008. Mrs. O'Gara is predeceased by her loving husband Walter, who died on the same date in 1977. She is survived by her children Dorothy Kelly, George O'Gara and Edna Pfannen and 8 grandchildren, Ken Sussman, Kathleen Blackfan, Laurie Huryk, Susan Hall, Kevin O'Gara, Brad Kelly, Karen O'Gara Helm and Geoffrey Kelly. She is also survived by her brother Wilfred Molinari and sister Isabel Alessi. In addition, Grandma will be remembered fondly by her 22 great grandchildren. During her lifetime, Mrs. O'Gara was always busy helping others and patiently teaching, whether it was piano lessons, baking, crocheting or gardening. She also spent untold hours giving of her talents to the community, including many years volunteering with the Opportunity Center at Fair Lawn and working with the Visiting Homemaker Service of Bergen County. She was a long time parishioner and a member of the AMPS Senior Club at St. Catharine RC Church, Glen Rock, a charter member of the St. Ann's Columbiettes and a member of the Fair Lawn Senior Citizens' Wednesday Club. The funeral will leave Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Saturday, March 1, at 10:00am for the Funeral Liturgy at St. Catharine RC Church at 11am. Interment Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Opportunity Center at Fair Lawn, 13-19 Fair Lawn Av., in Fair Lawn.
