Robert F. Halsch

HALSCH, Robert of Bergenfield, NJ, died on the morning of July 1 of complications from cancer. Mr. Halsch was a devoted father for all six of his children. A World War II US Army veteran of the Pacific Theater, Mr. Halsch was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He then attended Rutgers University. His quick wit and interest in both the news of the day and history made him a keen observer of life around him. Golf was an enduring interest along with being a fan of the Detroit Tigers and reading the latest fiction. He enjoyed fishing and visits to a family cottage at Green Pond, NJ. Born is 1925 in Weehawken, NJ, Mr. Halsch was a 1943 graduate of St. Michael's High School in Union City, NJ. Married for 62 years to Mildred D. Lipuscek of Teaneck, the couple lived in Teaneck, settling in Bergenfield in 1954. In recent years, regular winter visitors to both Fort Myers and Naples, FL. He is survived by his wife Mildred and six children: Eileen M. Halsch and husband Michael J. Reilly of Babylon, NY; Joseph (Jay) A. Halsch of Sacramento, CA; Paul R. Halsch and wife Tracey of Perry Hall, MD; Robert F. Halsch, Jr., and wife Deborah of Piermont NY; Phillip J. Halsch and wife Korey of Honolulu, HI; and Thomas M. Halsch and wife Shepard of Darien, CT. And grandchildren Kelly, Molly, Emily, Joseph, Christopher, Jonathan and Matthew. All will gather at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Friday at 9 a.m. for the Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 15 North Washington Ave. at 10 a.m. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Friends may visit Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. John's Church.
