In Loving Memory of Ronald F. McDermott

Ronald F. McDermott, a beloved resident of Milford, PA, and formerly of Dumont, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Elaine (nee Pagnussat), with whom he shared a deep and enduring love.

Ronald (“Ron”) was the cherished father of Roni Hansen, Daniel McDermott, Timothy McDermott and his wife Teresa. He was the treasured grandfather to Courtney and her husband Joe, Taylor, Ashley, Matthew, Andrew, and Luke, who brought immense joy to his life. His warmth and affection also extended to his dear siblings, Diane Molinari, Elise Heim and her husband Bill, and his sisters-in-law Lorraine Gobbetti and Marlene McDermott. Ronald was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank and Louise, and his brother Robert.

Ron’s life was marked by his dedication to family, friends, and community. He was a proud Army Veteran who served his country with honor. His commitment continued as a bus driver for NJ Transit for many years, and later for the Washingtonville School District upon his retirement. His colleagues and passengers alike will remember him for his kindness and reliability.

A man of many passions, Ron savored the thrill of the hunt and took immense pride in his remarkable collection of hunting trophies, each one a testament to his skill and precision as a sharpshooter. He cherished the times spent in upstate New York and anxiously awaited opening day for hunting season each year. Beyond his love for the great outdoors, Ron was a huge fan of watching his grandsons play college baseball, sporting their team colors and cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. He was also an ardent fan of U-Conn girls basketball, passionately following their games and celebrating their victories with zeal. Ron truly adored each of his six grandchildren and was incredibly proud of all their achievements.

His generosity, gentleness, warmth and humor made him a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy will be remembered and cherished by those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.

Visitation to honor Ronald's memory will be held on Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Riewerts Funeral Home in Bergenfield.
