Rose T. Schmelz

Rose T. Schmelz (nee Spano), 95, of Bergenfield passed away on January 28, 2022. Devoted wife of the late Norman M. Schmelz. Beloved mother of Norma-Rose Elfers (John), Mark, Lance, the late Ronald and Norman (Carolyn) Schmelz. Loving grandmother of John Elfers, Andrea Tider (Ben), Greg Elfers, Alexa-Rae, Brooke and Paige Schmelz and great grandmother of Isaiah, Warren, Vera Tider and Darius Schmelz. Sister of the late Josie Kopec, Mary Noto, Tony and John Spano. She was an avid bowler when she was younger, an original member of the Lazarus Team of St, John’s Church and a member of the Mother’s Auxiliary of Boy Scout Troop #180. Rose was never one to take the spotlight from her husband, she was the woman behind the scenes sharing the work. Visiting Tuesday 4-8 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield. All will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 AM for the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield at 10 AM. Interment George Washington Memorial Park.
