Ruth O'Dowd

Ruth P. O'Dowd (nee Wright), 81, on July 3, 2008 of Bergenfield. Often referred to as "The Best First Lady Bergenfield ever had", she was born in New York, NY. A graduate of Geo. Washington H.S, New York, NY in 1943 and the Moon Secretarial School in 1944, she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member and Officer of the Bergenfield Republican Club. She was an Office Manager for Rose and DeFuccio, Hackensack retiring in 1993. Beloved wife of Charles J. O'Dowd, Jr. whom she married on June 26, 1948. Devoted mother of David O'Dowd (wife Kathleen), Nancy Bruscino (husband Michael), Betsy O'Dowd (companion Artie Spencer), Patricia Pucarelli (husband Fred) and Michael O'Dowd (wife Lucia). Dear sister of Jeanne Collins and George Wright, Jr. Loving grandmother of Jack and Clare O'Dowd, Luke and Anne Bruscino, Samantha and Janice Ash, Tara Spencer, Elizabeth, Daniel, Emily and Andrea Pucarelli and Benjamin and Jessica O'Dowd. Funeral service at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave., Bergenfield on Monday at 10AM. Interment Geo. Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. The family will receive friends on Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Bergenfield Free Public Library.
