William D. Connington

William D. Connington of Vernon, formerly Bergenfield passed away on January 14, 2021 peacefully at home with his wife of 50 years by his side. Devoted husband of Barbara (Forrestal) Connington (nee King). Beloved father of Nancy Nelson (Russell), Carolyn Hite (Sean), Margaret Forrestal Dioguardi (Dan), Michael Connington (Jennifer), Kevin Connington (Ashley) and Brian Connington. Dear brother of Margaret Redmond (the late Edmond). Loving grandfather of Eddie, Geoffrey, Anthony, John William, Mackenzie, Kelly, Kaitlyn, Liam, Cheyenne, and Wyatt. Cherished by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus as well as a past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree. Faithful to his church he was a Eucharistic Minister, manager of St. Johns adult softball, and a member of the Golden Age club. Bill volunteered for numerous organizations and coached many childrens sports teams. A graduate from Fordham University where he got a degree in U.S. History he was an avid reader. An avid sports fan he rooted for Notre Dame. Visiting Sunday  2-7 PM at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield. All will gather at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bergenfield Monday at 11:45 AM for the funeral mass at 12 Noon. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
